The idea of starting your own business is incredibly exciting. For most of us, it is born of dreams, disappointments and a lot of soul searching. It also represents risk - risking our reputation, our personal resources, and in some cases, the resources of family, friends or investors.

This questionnaire is designed to help you ask yourself some hard questions. I promise you, these are questions that every business owner wishes someone would have asked them before they started.

Some of these questions are more theoretical and should cause you to examine some of your "whys" for starting a business. Others should cause you to rethink some of the assumptions you've made about yourself, your future employees and your customers. Think of it as someone trying to prove the seaworthiness of your boat before you push away from shore for a long, long trip.
